Putting Sibling Relationships on the Map
A Multi-Disciplinary Perspective
Edited by Martina Klett-Davies
Overall purpose:
To lead a more collective approach to improving well being for children and families in England, through building consensus between the key statutory and voluntary agencies working with and for families.
Key aims:
- To develop and promote common policy positions between key agencies on family policy and family services and to present these consensus views to Ministers and Government departments
- To provide leadership and drive within and across the groups represented, in promoting a partnership approach to meeting the needs of children and families
- To develop and articulate evidence-based and constructive approaches to the challenges of improving life for families.
Activities:
- Establishing policy positions held in common and, through meetings of representatives of the Family Policy Forum with Ministers and senior civil servants across government, to put over collective views
- Seminars or working groups, when relevant, in order to develop consensus positions on topical areas of policy
- Occasional joint conferences or other public events
- Periodic joint statements and press releases to represent a consensus view.
