Promoting your Parents' Week 2009 event
Your local media is a great way to tell mums, dads, grandparents and carers about your Parents' Week event. Getting an article in your local newspaper or a mention on your local radio station could see more people attending your event. And it will boost the profile of your Parent's Week activities and your organisation.
That's why we've put together this media pack – to help you make the most of your local press to publicise your event.
In this pack you will find:
- tips on how to get press coverage
- template press releases, one for before and one for after
- the Parents' Week logo for use in all your publicity
- other ways to promote your event
At a national level, we will be reporting on top issues for parents and using the Week as a focus to encourage debate in the media and amongst policy makers about how to best support families.
For additional information, journalists can contact the press and PR officer at the Family and Parenting Institute Press Office by phone: 020 7424 3460 or by email: press@familyandparenting.org
. Out-of-office-hours contacts are also available on this number.
And as well as telling journalists about your Parents' Week activities, we also want you to tell us about them too. We are looking for events and projects that we can showcase on our website and in our press releases. If this is something you may be interested in please email press@familyandparenting.org
.
And don't forget to let us know what you're doing - we will include your event in our regional map so that parents, carers, other services and funders can see what you're planning. Email brief details to events@familyandparenting.org
.
