The Parent's Guide to Money, with an e-learning resource for professionals, is available online at: www.parentsguidetomoney.fsa.gov.uk . It contains information about all the financial aspects of having a baby. It is handed to expectant parents by their midwife during pregnancy and used by a range of family support services. Mum's the Word - free NCT DVD shares the secrets of motherhood
The National Childbirth Trust is giving away a free 'Mums the Word' DVD during Parents' Week. Designed to help new mums adjust to life with a baby, the film offers a realistic portrayal of what it's like to become a mum and offers help and support to cope confidently with the changes that a new baby brings.
The DVD follows the true-life story of one woman, her midwives, health visitor and family as they support her through her baby's birth and beyond into motherhood. The DVD is designed to help new mums make the change to life as a new parent and reassure them that they are not alone in the challenges they face ahead. Topics include breastfeeding, sleeping and relationship changes with partners.
Copies of the DVD are available by calling NCT on 0300 330 0770 or online at www.nct.org.uk
If parents have any specific enquiries during Parents' Week they can call the NCT's Pregnancy & Birth Line on 0300 330 0772 (Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm), or the Breastfeeding Line 0300 330 0771 (8am – 10pm) or NCT Enquiries on 0300 330 0770.

KIA FOR PARENTS
With the support from BECTA and the DCSF a further half a million copies of Childnet's KNOW IT ALL FOR PARENTS' CD Rom have been duplicated and are ready for schools to order free of charge from today. See news announcement at www.childnet.com/news/articles/091008.html
The new version includes updated sections on Cyberbullying, Social Networking and a short overview on 'Where to Report'. As with the earlier version, all the content is presented in video format for parents with links to wider resources and pdf leaflets which parents and teachers can download from the disc. We have also added Welsh to the translations of the overview section (now in 10 languages) The SMART content aimed at primary school aged children is also now in British Sign Language.
All this content has also been updated on the Childnet.com website see www.childnet.com/kia/parents/cd/ If you have any questions about ordering please email the Childnet team at info@childnet.com ![]()
CYBERBULLYING FILM AND RESOURCES
Over 30,000 copies of the Childnet cyberbullying film 'Let's Fight it Together' have been ordered from the DCSF order line but there are approximately 3,000 left. Again these are free to order for schools and we continue to get great feedback on the effectiveness of this resource. Over 85,000 users have viewed the film online and we have now included subtitles on the online version at www.digizen.org/cyberbullying/fullFilm.aspx. The film is being used around the world and will be rolled out across schools in Australia and New Zealand later in the year.
UPDATED MUSIC ADVICE AND SOCIAL NETWORKING LEAFLETS
Working again with the world-wide music industry we've update the advice to parents and teachers on helping students stay on the right side of the online music issues. Online and mobile music services are changing almost every week and it is really important that we support parents to help students in understanding the copyright and privacy issues in using P2P and other online music services. See www.childnet.com/music/advice_p.html for the online version of this leaflet. We've also updated and re-printed our advice for Parents on Social networking services. See www.childnet-int.org/blogsafety/index.html You can order both these leaflets and the full range of Childnet resources at www.childnet.com/order/default.aspx.

During the Parents' Week, we will include a bookmark in an agreed number of books borrowed from a selection of libraries throughout the county. In some locations there will be help on hand to show parents how to access, online, the vast range of information contained in the CSD, which is updated regularly as part of the implementation of the strategy. We are hoping that the number of hits to the CSD website will increse during October and November as a result of this promotion.
