Only 6 per cent of families think Britain is very family friendly. We want to change this.
Family Friendly is a major upcoming scheme that aims to change the way UK society views families. Run by the Family and Parenting Institute, it will link businesses and public services with their customers, and help staff at all levels to think about the needs of the family.
All organisations rely on families. Every client, every customer and every staff member is part of a family. An organisation must recognise this when engaging with customers - it is fundamental to success. Our aim is to help businesses and services meet the growing widespread expectation that family friendliness is an integral part of good customer service.
How the Family Friendly scheme will work
Whatever the size or sector of an organisation, the scheme can fit around existing processes – allowing it to take on as much as it likes, with a number of benefits:
Publicity: Making a public declaration of an organisation's commitments means it can take advantage of the national publicity, marketing and promotional materials – including a national awards scheme.
Resources: Supported by a full customer service team, the scheme uses an online hub, forum, toolkit and training guides to help organisations build products around families. They will be able to assess existing services and rate them according to the Family and Parenting Institute's standard for family friendly services. All the materials have been created by experts in the field, and thoroughly tested with families.
Dialogue: The scheme encourages family members to feed back their experiences through the soon-to-be-launched website.
