Mary MacLeod joined the Family and Parenting Institute as its first chief executive in October 1999. Formerly of Barnardo's, Lothian Region Social Work Department, ChildLine and the Universities of Edinburgh and North London, she has written widely about child and family welfare. Publications include: Why Me? A study of bullying; Children and Racism; and Unhappy Families, Unhappy Children. She is a member of government and non-governmental research and policy advisory groups on children and family issues, a member of the panel set up by the DCSF to assess the evidence on the impact of commercialisation on children, a board member of NCB and a member of the Programme Board of Centre for Excellence and Outcomes. She has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Open University for her contribution to education and culture and an OBE for voluntary and public service.

Sally Gimson joined the FPI as Campaigns Officer in November 2006. Sally has a degree in French and German. Her career started in news journalism. She worked for the European, the Observer and the Sunday Telegraph in London, and was a translator and producer for Deutsche Welle's english language TV news service in Berlin. At the FPI she has run a high profile campaign in support of health visitors and has worked with other voluntary organisations to highlight the problems around some reality TV parenting programmes. She is a school governor at a primary school in Camden and chair of governors at the Royal Free Hospital Children's School.

Honor Rhodes started her career teaching in. She is a qualified social worker and has a law degree. She has worked developing family services in Tower Hamlets and the Corporation of London. She then moved to the voluntary sector working for Family Welfare Association. In April 2005 she moved to Coram Family to take up the post of Chief Executive. Honor has been at the FPI since 2006, responsible for setting up consultancy and other allied services. Honor's other positions include a non-executive directorship of City and Hackney Teaching Primary Care Trust with special responsibility for children's health and wellbeing and, recently, a Trustee of the National Association of Child Contact Centres.

Interests
She writes and speaks on a range of topics, particularly on Child Contact, Family Support, Effectiveness and Attachment issues. Her particular interest is in effective interventions with chaotic, chronic multi-problem families where children and their anti-social behaviour is the key feature that takes up agencies' time and attention, diverting them from doing the things that really work.

Shaun Glanville MA (Oxon) is Head of Fundraising and joined FPI in 2003 having previously worked in fundraising and communications at the Housing Associations' Charitable Trust. He previously held a range of posts in arts, academic and charity settings. He is responsible for fundraising across FPI's activities and has led and coordinated successful bids for major projects including the Parenting Fund, Early Learning Partnership and Starting School (TIS). He also manages FPI's strategic funding and corporate relationships. In 1994 he co-founded Camden People's Theatre where he worked extensively in fundraising, development and general management. He has been Chair of its Board of Trustees since 2000.

Mary King joined FPI as Director of Finance and Operations in January 2001. She is responsible for the Finance, Information Technology, Personnel and Administrative functions within the FPI. She has a Diploma in Charity Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Post-graduate Diploma in Charity Finance from South Bank University. She is also a member of the Charity Finance Directors' Group. She has worked in the voluntary sector for many years and before joining FPI she worked for Medical Aid for Palestinians as their Director of Finance and Administration with responsibility for deputizing for the Chief Executive.

Clem Henricsonis a social policy analyst who has specialised in investigating the relationship between the state and the family. She has a particular interest in human and children's rights and has assessed the Government's family policy from a social rights perspective in Government and Parenting, 2000, and the interaction between child and family policy in The Child and Family Policy Divide, 2004. She supervised the work of the Commission into Families and the Wellbeing of Children, which reported on the respective role of state and family in 2005. Clem Henricson has researched family services in England and Wales, and has developed a model for the future of family services which has been instrumental in shaping government strategic planning in this area. She has led a multi - stage national programme for parent support in schools, involving pilots, evaluation and feasibility assessments. She also serves on government and academic advisory committees concerned with family policy.

Anne Page FRSA is responsible for policy development, policy projects and parliamentary work. She is the author of a new FPI research report about partnerships between schools and parents. She recently led a DCSF funded 2-year demonstration project and rollout of a new initiative to promote engaging with parents in schools. Previously she worked at the NHS West London Health Promotion Agency and as a freelance writer and consultant for the education & health services. She has written numerous articles on parenting, child development and health and been a regular contributor to radio. She co-edited 'Changing Minds', published by Gaskell Press, a self-help book for families affected by mental health issues. She worked for thirteen years as a lecturer in further education, where she set up Student Services in two colleges and pioneered counselling courses in the 1980s. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts..

Carena Rogers joined FPI in August 2001. Prior to this she worked for a short time at One Parent Families and for many years in the voluntary sector focusing on disability rights. She has a first degree in Philosophy and Women's Studies and a Masters in Gender, Society and Culture from the University of London. Publications include Implementation of Every Child Matters Green Paper briefing paper and a short series of policy reviews for the Social Capital Research Group based at South Bank University.

Claire James (née Jordan) joined the Family and Parenting Institute in July 2006 as a Policy Officer. During her time at FPI she has worked on a range of policy areas including family and parenting support, welfare reform, housing, and family policy across Europe. Previously she worked at Scope as a Policy and Research Officer and focused on disability rights, independent living and direct payments, before that volunteering for organisations including Anti-Slavery International and the Environmental Justice Foundation.

Joanna Apps joined the Family and Parenting Institute in 2005 as a senior research fellow. Formerly at Kings College London (Gerontology), University College London (Primary Care and Population Studies; Epidemiology and Public Health) and the University of Oxford (Primary Care), her research and publications have focused on measurement of quality of life, health and well-being in preschool children and their families and social inequalities in health. Her background is in social and health psychology and quantitative research methods. She has been a visiting lecturer in psychology and research methods at six universities since 1994, a freelance research consultant to the private and voluntary sector and has worked with the Health Education Authority and Unison to develop teaching materials for health professionals and NHS managers.

Before qualifying as a developmental psychologist, Helen Barrett (BA, BSc, PhD, PGCE) has worked in the community in a variety of settings including a therapeutic children's home, hospital wards and in the Social Services where she was responsible for the registration and support of childminders. Her recent publications and research have focused on parenting programmes, the nature of the family in UK society, a review of recent evaluations of three early interventions in the UK and investigation into the development of directories of services to children and families. Helen Barrett has a special interest in the effects of separation at all stages of the life cycle. She is chair of the International Attachment Network, a charitable organisation devoted to the provision of information and opportunities for exchange of ideas about attachment.

Dr Shuby Puthussery joined the Family and Parenting Institute as a Senior Research Fellow in January 2007. Her training and research background is in Social Work and Public Health. Before joining the Institute, Shuby was a Research Officer at City University, London where she took the lead in conducting a project on the maternity care experiences of UK- born ethnic minority women. In her previous positions at Universities in Germany, Sweden, India and Nepal, Shuby has managed and conducted research projects in the areas of maternal and reproductive health, family and child welfare, and mental health. Currently, Shuby is also a visiting Research Fellow in the Families and Social Capital Research Group at London South Bank University.

Yan-Shing Chang has conducted cross-cultural research comparing parental involvement in children's learning among white English and Chinese ethnic families in England. She has also conducted research on the contents and usage of a selection of Parents' Topic Guides published by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Joanne Kellett joined FPI in 2006 from the University of East Anglia where she had held research posts in both the Health and Social Work Departments. She has been involved in a number of research studies exploring parenting and family relationships including the transition to fatherhood, parental separation and child contact, practitioners' assessments of parenting support need and the impact of UK child welfare interventions on children and families of minority ethnic origin.

Dr. Martina Klett-Davies is a Sociologist who has specialised in family and gender studies and modern social theories. She came to FPI as a Research Fellow in September 2007 from the London School of Economics (LSE) where she continues to be a visiting Lecturer.
At LSE, Martina Klett-Davies has obtained national and European research grants. Her work as a Research Fellow has been funded by a EU[em]Human Capital and Mobility' Fellowship, and her doctoral as well as post-doctoral research has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
Prior to being a Research Fellow at the LSE, she was an academic researcher at Kingston University and at Goldsmiths' College, University of London.
Martina is a reviewer for the British Journal of Sociology and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Research interests:
Family dynamics (parenting and paid and unpaid work, lone mothers, sibling relationships and housewives). Her focus is on the interplay between social identities, social policies and social capital.

Eleni Skaliotis is a research fellow at the Family and Parenting Institute. Previously, Eleni worked at the Campaign for Learning and the Centre for the Wider Benefits of Learning at the Institute of Education. She has conducted research on parental involvement, maternal employment and teenage births. She has experience of secondary data analysis on longitudinal datasets and qualitative research.

Dr Sue Virgo joined the Family and Parenting Institute in August 2007. Before joining the Institute she undertook evaluations of parenting support programmes at the University of Brighton. She also worked solely on 3 freelance evaluations of family support for the voluntary sector in East Sussex. She has been a practitioner in a voluntary sector family support project and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University.

Ivonne Wollny joined the Family and Parenting Institute in September 2007. Before joining the Institute she was employed at the Mental Health and Social Work department at Middlesex University where she designed and conducted an evaluation of learning for practice in social work education. Previously Ivonne worked at the Office for National Statistics where she managed Labour Force Survey and OMNIBUS data and conducted analyses for internal and external clients, e.g. investigating the impact of the NewDeal programme.
